Convergence: 0. The Schema
The Claim
A schema scores convergence claims by tier, independence, and depth.
Definitions
A schema scores claims. A node is a documented claim. An edge is a relationship between nodes. Tier is the epistemic status of a claim. T0 = theorem. T1 = established. T2 = contested. T3 = philosophical. T4 = experiential. T5 = metaphor. Domain independence measures whether multiple fields derived a pattern without borrowing. Citation depth measures source specificity. Depth = 1.0 if source has name, year, and result. Depth = 0.5 if source has name only. Depth = 0.1 if source shows vagueness. Convergence strength is a weighted sum of tier, independence, and depth. A load-bearing node carries structural weight. Strength exceeds 6.0. Tier does not exceed T2. A carried node does not carry structural weight. Tier meets or exceeds T3. Or strength falls below 6.0.
The Logic
- If a claim matches T0, then weight = 4.
- If a claim matches T1, then weight = 3.
- If a claim matches T2, then weight = 2.
- If a claim matches T3, then weight = 1.
- If a claim matches T4, then weight = 0.5.
- If a claim matches T5, then weight = 0.
- If domains derived a pattern independently, then independence = 1.0.
- If domains partially borrowed, then independence = 0.5.
- If one domain imported from another, then independence = 0.2.
- If a source has name, year, and result, then depth = 1.0.
- If a source has name only, then depth = 0.5.
- If a source shows vagueness, then depth = 0.1.
- If strength exceeds 6.0 and tier stays below T3, then the node carries weight.
- If tier meets or exceeds T3, then the node does not carry weight.
- If strength falls below 6.0, then the node does not carry weight.
The Evidence
Convergence_Strength = sum over all instances of [tier_weight domain_independence citation_depth].
The Falsifier
If a node with tier T3 or above carries structural weight, the schema fails. If a node with strength below 6.0 carries structural weight, the schema fails. If the weights have no derivation, the schema fails.
The Uncertainty
No one knows the optimal weights. No one knows the optimal thresholds. No one knows the optimal formula.
