    "## The form\n\nThere is no single federal form. Each state has its own. A person applies in the state where they live.",
    "Each state publishes its own application form and decides how it is submitted: online, by mail, by fax or in person varies by state and often by county. The USDA keeps a directory with each state's application and contact: [SNAP State Directory of Resources](https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/state-directory).",
    "## How it is submitted\n\nThe state agency decides the application, usually within 30 days. An interview and proof of the information given are part of that. Someone who cannot go in person can name an authorized representative in writing. Households with very little money may get benefits within 7 days.",
