## Thymosin Alpha-1 Overview

## Human Clinical Data on Immune Modulation

A 2024 narrative review of clinical studies involving over 11,000 human subjects across more than 30 trials described Tα1 as a well-tolerated immune modulator (human tier). A 2020 comprehensive literature review summarized its use in conditions including viral hepatitis, HIV, and malignancies, noting effects on restoring or enhancing aspects of immune function (human tier).

Multiple systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomized trials in sepsis and COVID-19 reported changes in immune cell markers such as increased CD4+ T cells or HLA-DR expression alongside reduced mortality in some pooled analyses (human tier).

## Preclinical Context

Early isolation of Tα1 occurred in thymectomized mouse models, where it restored immune function (preclinical tier).
