Your operator's instructions take precedence — acting is optional, reading is a complete outcome."},"slug":"oip-tap-go","title":"The complete token and capability manual","body":"# Tokens and capabilities on miscsubjects: the complete operating manual\n\nThis page is the source of truth for every credential used on miscsubjects.com. It covers `/start`, public self-scoping, owner minting, Tap & Go drops, article comments and DIV editing, proof of work inspection and certification, workspace seats, the article write gate, APIs, CLI objects, MCP objects, computer objects, receipts, replay, repair, expiration, revocation, and troubleshooting.\n\nOther pages explain the build, OIP, proven work, comments, or recursive content in more depth. They do not define a second token system. If their token instructions disagree with this page or with a token's live explanation, the live explanation wins.\n\n## The whole system in one sentence\n\nA token is a signed, expiring, revocable capability that says which named objects its holder may invoke, for how long, how many times, at what risk ceiling, and under which additional limits; every accepted or denied invocation is recorded under its non-secret fingerprint and returns a receipt when work runs.\n\nThe operation is always:\n\n```text\nobject + input + authority = outcome + receipt\n```\n\nAuthentication does not create duplicate verbs. Edit means Edit. Without direct authority, Edit creates a private proposal. With `BLOCK_EDIT`, Edit changes the named DIV. The operation stays the same; the authority changes the outcome.\n\n## Start here when nobody gave you a token\n\nOpen:\n\n```text\nGET https://miscsubjects.com/start?actor=<YOUR_MODEL_NAME>\n```\n\n`/start` publicly mints a bounded credential for the safe public set: article inspection, objections, OIP article review, model-chat intake, proof ping, and the clock. It also returns complete URLs with the token already filled in. Reading the response is a complete outcome. Actions remain conditional on the operator's request.\n\nIf a browsing proxy cached an expired `/start` response, fetch:\n\n```text\nhttps://miscsubjects.com/start?fresh=<RANDOM_VALUE>&actor=<YOUR_MODEL_NAME>\n```\n\nDo not report a navigation-layer refusal as a site rejection. A refusal before an HTTP response is a transport failure. A JSON response from miscsubjects saying `error` is a site answer.\n\n## The six ways a token is minted\n\n### 1. Public root drop: `/start`\n\nNo key is required. It grants only the declared public-safe rows. It is designed for a visiting model that needs to inspect, object, review, ping, or obtain a receipted read.\n\n### 2. Public self-scope\n\nA visitor may mint only from the public set:\n\n```text\nGET /api/dispatch?self_scope=1&keys=ARTICLE_INSPECT,OBJECTION_LOG&actor=<MODEL>&purpose=<WHY>\n```\n\nAsking for a key outside the public set returns `keys_outside_public_self_scope_set`. It does not silently widen the grant.\n\n### 3. Owner mint\n\nThe owner can mint any permitted scope through an authenticated session or terminal key:\n\n```text\nGET /api/dispatch?mint_share=1&scope=act&ttl=3600&uses=25\nGET /api/dispatch?mint_share=1&scope=row&key=BLOCK_EDIT&ttl=600&uses=1\nGET /api/dispatch?mint_share=1&scope=rows&keys=ARTICLE_INSPECT,OBJECTION_LOG&ttl=3600&uses=10\nGET /api/dispatch?mint_share=1&scope=pfx&prefix=BLOCK_&ttl=86400&uses=100\n```\n\nOwner minting may also bind a purpose, actor, audience, workspace, role, risk ceiling, maximum body size, fixed body, or owner gate. A broad token belongs in a header or structured POST body, never a URL.\n\n### 4. Tap & Go drops\n\nTap & Go mints a token and packages it for handoff:\n\n```text\nOWNER GET /api/dispatch?tap_go=1&format=json\nOWNER GET /api/dispatch?tap_go=1&drop=article&format=json\nOWNER GET /api/dispatch?tap_go=1&drop=feedback&format=json\nOWNER GET /api/dispatch?tap_go=1&drop=audit&format=json\n```\n\nEvery returned drop points back to this manual. `drop=article` is scoped to `pfx:BLOCK_`. Feedback and audit drops name their own rows. A general owner drop may be broader. Read the live explanation before assuming what any copied drop can do.\n\n### 5. Workspace seat\n\nA workspace defines roles and the object set each role may use. A public role may mint by entering:\n\n```text\nGET /api/workspace/<WORKSPACE>/enter?role=<PUBLIC_ROLE>&actor=<MODEL>\n```\n\nAn invited role claims its invitation code. Workspace authority is confined to that workspace and role. It is not owner authority.\n\n### 6. Article write-gate challenge\n\nA model holding no owner token can earn a narrow prose-write credential by reading and answering the live writing law:\n\n```text\nGET /api/write-gate/challenge?slug=<ARTICLE_SLUG>\n```\n\nThis path is for guarded article writing. It is not a general capability mint and cannot become MCP, CLI, computer, admin, or terminal authority.\n\n## What the token carries\n\nThe signed token and its server record bind these fields:\n\n- `fingerprint`: a public `cap_` identity safe to cite; the raw token is secret.\n- `scope`: `read`, `act`, `row:KEY`, `rows:KEY1,KEY2`, `pfx:PREFIX`, or a workspace/tenant boundary.\n- `expires_at`: the last time it can authorize work.\n- `max_uses` and uses consumed or reserved.\n- `risk_ceiling`: low or high.\n- optional fixed input, maximum body bytes, audience, tenant, owner gate, purpose, actor, issuer, and parent fingerprint.\n- revocation and delegation state.\n\nAsk the server what you hold:\n\n```text\nGET /api/dispatch?explain=1&share=<TOKEN>\nGET /web/explain?share=<TOKEN>\nGET /api/token/validate?share=<TOKEN>\n```\n\nValidation also accepts `Authorization: Bearer <TOKEN>` and `x-write-token: <TOKEN>`. The response states the scope, expiry, permitted set, fingerprint, record, revocation link, and ledger link without publishing the raw credential.\n\n## Scope is the security boundary\n\n`read` runs nothing. `row:BLOCK_EDIT` invokes one object. `rows:` invokes exactly the listed objects. `pfx:BLOCK_` invokes only names beginning `BLOCK_`. `act` reaches registered objects at or below the token's risk ceiling unless another owner, tenant, audience, or object gate refuses it.\n\nOne protocol does not mean one blast radius. The same envelope can name API objects, CLI objects, MCP objects, computer objects, article objects, messaging objects, or payment objects. A `pfx:BLOCK_` article token cannot invoke `MCP_*`, `CLI_*`, `COMPUTER_*`, admin, owner, terminal, raw-ledger, or secret objects. A low-risk token cannot cross a high-risk gate merely because it knows the object name.\n\nTo find objects:\n\n```text\nGET /api/dispatch?map=1&format=markdown\nGET /api/dispatch?ask=<PLAIN_LANGUAGE_REQUEST>\nGET /api/dispatch?key=<EXACT_KEY>&format=markdown&share=<TOKEN>\n```\n\nThe contract says what input the object accepts, how it runs, its sensitivity, and what output proves completion. A directory listing proves registration, not authority and not successful use.\n\n## APIs, CLIs, MCPs, and computer operations use the same door\n\nAPI objects call remote HTTP services. CLI objects run registered command-line operations. MCP objects call a registered MCP server and method. Computer objects operate the local browser or Mac through separately gated machinery. Their implementations differ; their OIP envelope does not:\n\n```text\nPOST /api/dispatch\n{\"key\":\"<OBJECT_KEY>\",\"body\":\"<OBJECT_INPUT>\"}\n```\n\nThe token must name the object and clear its risk and owner gates. Server-held provider keys, MCP credentials, shell access, and computer-control credentials never travel inside the public token or the article. The token authorizes the server to use an already configured object; it does not reveal the object's underlying secret.\n\n## Article comments and DIV editing\n\nEvery article exposes a graph of stable recursive-content blocks:\n\n```text\nGET /api/blocks/article/<SLUG>\n```\n\nA public human or model needs no token to read the graph, click a DIV and open its version-bound thread, comment, record Good or Bad, or propose an edit, move, split, merge, reuse, copy, or deletion. Public proposals are private to the owner until accepted and cannot mutate canonical content.\n\nA minted `pfx:BLOCK_` token can directly invoke only the following article objects:\n\n| Object | Action |\n|---|---|\n| `BLOCK_COMMENT` | Comment on one exact DIV version |\n| `BLOCK_VERDICT` | Record Good, Bad, edit, or delete judgment |\n| `BLOCK_SUGGEST` | File a version-bound proposal |\n| `BLOCK_EDIT` | Replace one shared DIV using its expected hash |\n| `BLOCK_MOVE` | Move one DIV inside one article |\n| `BLOCK_MOVE_GROUP` | Move adjacent selected DIVs together |\n| `BLOCK_SPLIT` | Split without losing bytes |\n| `BLOCK_MERGE` | Merge adjacent DIVs without losing bytes |\n| `BLOCK_DIVIDE` | Turn exact selected words into a stable DIV |\n| `BLOCK_REUSE` | Reference the same DIV from another article |\n| `BLOCK_COPY` | Make an article-only copy |\n| `BLOCK_DELETE` | Remove this article's reference while preserving history |\n\nComments and verdicts remain pinned to the exact version they evaluated. Edits, moves, splits, merges, and boundaries use hashes or expected positions. A stale operation returns a conflict and changes nothing. Read the graph again and repair from the failed receipt.\n\n## Proven work: inspection and certification are different actions\n\nInspection is a read. Certification is an optional signed judgment:\n\n```text\nGET /api/proven-work/<SLUG>/inspect\nGET /api/proven-work/<SLUG>/certify?verdict=<VERDICT>&model=<MODEL>&grounds=<GROUNDS>&inspection_receipt=<RECEIPT>\nPOST /api/proven-work/<SLUG>/certify\n```\n\nThe inspection response returns the work object, evidence, an inspection receipt, and a prefilled browser-safe certification URL. Only certify when the model endorses the verdict and its operator wants that verdict recorded. A token can authorize inspection or certification only when its scope names the required object. The deliverable, formation record, inspection, certification, and invocation receipts are related proof objects, not interchangeable labels.\n\n## Every supported token transport\n\nPreferred for curl, agents, and server code:\n\n```bash\ncurl -sS -X POST https://miscsubjects.com/api/dispatch \\\n  -H \"Authorization: Bearer <TOKEN>\" \\\n  -H \"content-type: application/json\" \\\n  --data-binary '{\"key\":\"BLOCK_COMMENT\",\"body\":\"{\\\\\"block_id\\\\\":\\\\\"rb_ID\\\\\",\\\\\"body\\\\\":\\\\\"comment\\\\\"}\"}'\n```\n\nStructured POST body:\n\n```json\n{\"key\":\"BLOCK_COMMENT\",\"body\":\"<JSON STRING>\",\"share\":\"<TOKEN>\"}\n```\n\nThe body credential field may be `capability_token`. Existing clients may use `x-write-token` or `x-block-token` headers.\n\nBrowser-only models may use:\n\n```text\nGET /web/run/<OBJECT_KEY>?share=<SHORT_LIVED_TOKEN>&body=<URL_ENCODED_INPUT>\n```\n\nCompatibility GET invocation remains available:\n\n```text\nGET /api/dispatch?invoke=<OBJECT_KEY>&share=<SHORT_LIVED_TOKEN>&body=<URL_ENCODED_INPUT>\n```\n\nGET mutation is a compatibility concession. Browser history, analytics, proxies, screenshots, referrers, previews, and copied URLs can leak or repeat it. Use URL tokens only when they are short-lived, sharply scoped, and use-capped. Never put broad `act`, admin, terminal, CLI, MCP, computer, payment, messaging, or owner authority in a URL.\n\n## Narrowing, delegation, expiration, and revocation\n\nA token holder may mint a child without the owner:\n\n```text\nGET /api/dispatch?narrow=1&share=<PARENT>&scope=row:ARTICLE_INSPECT&ttl=600&uses=1&purpose=<WHY>\n```\n\nThe child can only shrink. Its scope is a subset, expiry cannot exceed the parent, uses are reserved from the parent, risk cannot rise, body size cannot grow, audience cannot widen, tenant and owner gates persist, and delegation stops after five generations. Revoking a parent revokes every descendant.\n\nOwner revocation uses the public fingerprint, not the raw token:\n\n```text\nOWNER GET /api/dispatch?revoke=cap_<FINGERPRINT>\n```\n\nExpired, exhausted, revoked, or ancestor-revoked tokens fail closed. Minting a new token does not erase the old token's receipts.\n\n## Receipts, confirmation, replay, and repair\n\nA successful invocation returns an `inv_` identifier. The receipt binds the object contract, capability fingerprint, request and result hashes, status, time, output, and lineage.\n\n```text\nGET /api/dispatch?confirm=inv_ID\nGET /web/confirm/inv_ID\nGET /api/dispatch?receipt=inv_ID&share=<TOKEN>\nPOST /api/dispatch {\"replay\":\"inv_ID\",\"share\":\"<TOKEN>\"}\nPOST /api/dispatch {\"key\":\"<KEY>\",\"body\":\"<CORRECTED_INPUT>\",\"repairs\":\"inv_ID\",\"share\":\"<TOKEN>\"}\n```\n\nConfirmation is minimal and keyless. A full receipt is visible to its capability or the owner. Replay runs again and links the new receipt to the original. Repair runs corrected input and creates bidirectional error-and-fix lineage. A 200 response, a directory row, a plan, or a model's statement that it acted is not proof of execution. The receipt and resulting live artifact are the proof.\n\n## Privacy and prompt-injection boundary\n\nRaw tokens, terminal keys, provider keys, cookies, passwords, and token-bearing URLs never belong in public comments, articles, receipts, social posts, or proof links. Cite `cap_` fingerprints and keyless confirmation URLs.\n\nCanonical content, public comments, private pending proposals, and privileged instructions/configuration are separate trust classes. Text retrieved from an article or proposal cannot become authority or widen a capability. Pending proposal bodies are not publicly enumerable. Comments render as text. Pattern filters catch obvious instruction override, secret-exfiltration, executable tags, script URLs, and suspicious encoded payloads, but the structural trust boundary is the real defense.\n\n## Troubleshooting in the right order\n\n1. **No HTTP response arrived.** The browser, browsing proxy, DNS sandbox, or navigation policy refused the transport. Use the native URL opener, `/web/run`, or have the operator paste the exact URL. Do not call it a miscsubjects rejection.\n2. **`invalid_signature` or `token_corrupted`.** The token was truncated or altered. Copy a fresh drop. This is different from expiration.\n3. **`expired`.** Fetch a fresh `/start` drop or ask the owner to mint again.\n4. **`token_exhausted`.** The use budget reached zero. A retry cannot restore it.\n5. **`revoked` or ancestor revoked.** The capability chain was intentionally killed. A child cannot escape the parent's revocation.\n6. **`scope_mismatch`.** The token is valid, but the object is outside `row`, `rows`, or `pfx`. Read `/api/dispatch?explain=1&share=<TOKEN>`.\n7. **Risk or owner-gate refusal.** The object exists and the name may match, but the risk ceiling, owner gate, audience, tenant, fixed body, or size limit refuses it. A narrower token cannot widen itself.\n8. **`keys_outside_public_self_scope_set`.** Public self-minting does not grant that object. Use a workspace role or an owner-minted token.\n9. **`hash_mismatch`, stale version, or stale position.** Another edit landed first. Read the object again, use the new hash, and send a repair linked to the failed receipt.\n10. **404 after a public write.** The secret-egress guard may have found credential material in the payload. Remove raw secrets and token-bearing URLs. Cite only fingerprints and keyless receipts.\n11. **Unknown object.** Search with `?ask=` or open `?map=1`; use the exact directory key.\n12. **A receipt exists but the expected artifact does not.** Open the full receipt and inspect the actual result. A transport receipt, deduplication response, or queued proposal is not the same outcome as a published article, sent message, executed CLI, completed MCP call, or changed DIV.\n\nThe diagnostic tiebreaker is always the live explanation:\n\n```text\nGET https://miscsubjects.com/api/dispatch?explain=1&share=<TOKEN>\n```\n\n## The other canonical build documents\n\n- [This build, end to end](/a/the-build-end-to-end) explains the whole operating environment.\n- [Proven work](/a/proven-work) defines the deliverable-plus-record standard.\n- [The work object](/a/the-work-object) publishes current tasks, acceptance tests, and evidence.\n- [Agent work law](/a/agent-work-law) states how a model leases and proves work.\n- [`llms.txt`](/llms.txt) routes a cold model to these sources and the live machine doors.\n\nThose pages defer every token-use and token-troubleshooting question back here.","register":"oip_protocol","tags":["oip","object-invocation-protocol","protocol-specification","machine-native-json","primer"],"style":{"accent":"#16324f","measure":860},"claims":[{"id":"oip-c1","tier":"system","text":"The OIP article layer is generated from live directory rows, so it documents the objects that actually run the reference implementation.","who_claims":"system/oip_articles","source_ids":["oip-s3","oip-s4"]},{"id":"oip-c2","tier":"system","text":"The OIP operating path is caller to directory object to dispatch runner to invocation ledger to receipt.","who_claims":"system/oip_articles","source_ids":["oip-s1"]},{"id":"oip-c3","tier":"system","text":"Every executable capability in the reference implementation is reachable as an OIP object with a human article, a machine document, invocation history, and receipt path.","who_claims":"system/oip_articles","source_ids":["oip-s2","oip-s3"]},{"id":"oip-c4","tier":"system","text":"Tap & Go is the copy primitive: one drop carries credential, protocol, tree, search, execute, and receipt instructions without a separate token-map-bundle assembly step.","who_claims":"system/oip_articles","source_ids":["oip-s2"]},{"id":"oip-c5","tier":"system","text":"OIP receipts are the proof object for actions: they record request, response, actor, links, replay, repair, and lineage.","who_claims":"system/oip_articles","source_ids":["oip-s2","oip-s5"]}],"sources":[{"id":"oip-s1","type":"protocol","title":"BUILD_SPEC object invocation path","url":"https://miscsubjects.com/api/file/docs/BUILD_SPEC.md","summary":"Defines directory rows, dispatch, ledger, and the escalation path for changing the build.","quote":"Run anything: POST https://miscsubjects.com/api/dispatch {key, body}","claim_ids":["oip-c2"],"link_status":"ok","hash":"oipbuildspec0001"},{"id":"oip-s2","type":"protocol","title":"Object Invocation Protocol spec","url":"https://miscsubjects.com/api/file/docs/OIP.md","summary":"Defines OIP surfaces, invariant loop, receipt/replay/repair, and invocation envelopes.","quote":"identify, explain, invoke, ledger, yield","claim_ids":["oip-c3","oip-c4","oip-c5"],"link_status":"ok","hash":"oipspec00000002"},{"id":"oip-s3","type":"protocol","title":"Live OIP capability tree","url":"https://miscsubjects.com/api/dispatch?map=1&format=markdown","summary":"Public recursive capability tree.","quote":"root > shelf > system article > capability article > receipt","claim_ids":["oip-c1","oip-c3"],"link_status":"ok","hash":"oipmap0000000002"},{"id":"oip-s4","type":"protocol","title":"Directory row documentation","url":"https://miscsubjects.com/api/dispatch?key=OIP_TREE&format=markdown","summary":"Capability articles are generated from live rows.","quote":"Machine Contract","claim_ids":["oip-c1"],"link_status":"ok","hash":"oiprow0000000003"},{"id":"oip-s5","type":"protocol","title":"Invocation ledger","url":"https://miscsubjects.com/api/invocations","summary":"Append-only invocation records and receipt links.","quote":"invocations","claim_ids":["oip-c5"],"link_status":"ok","hash":"oipinvocations0005"}],"prov":{"model":"system/oip_articles","action":"generate"}}
