RESPECT. INTEGRITY. COMPASSION. Episcopal Community Services (ECS) has provided essential services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in San Francisco since 1983, utilizing a holistic approach that addresses the multiple causes leading to homelessness. This past year, we served more than 13,000 people across four counties in the San Francisco Bay Area, guided by our mission to help homeless and very low-income people every day and every night obtain the housing, jobs, shelter, and essential services each person needs to prevent and end homelessness. IMPACTING COMMUNITIES DONATE NOW LIVED EXPERIENCES OF HOMELESSNESS Shardonnae Moving her family forward “I am very grateful for ECS, because they helped me find a job, go back to school, and have a career." EJ Focused on success “I learned to set up for success before beginning any task, minuscule or major." Sabrina Now has a place to call home “I was tired of the streets, the difference is this place. They don’t give up on you.” IN THE NEWS How 1064 Mission Street Brought Permanent Supportive Housing to the Heart of San Francisco By N/A N/A • September 22, 2026 “It’s been stabilizing for the residents,” Christen adds, “and ECS has been a good community partner in working with neighbors to make sure that the building is stabilizing for the neighborhood as well.” Read more on Tax Credit Advisor . What Partnership Makes Possible: A Letter from ECS' Executive Director By Beth Stokes • September 21, 2026 Dear ECS Community, From new investments in affordable housing to expanded housing and services across the Bay Area, this quarter brought meaningful progress worth recognizing . Although much work remains to ensure every neighbor has a safe and stable place to call home, these moments of progress demonstrate what sustained advocacy, strong partnerships, and a shared commitment can achieve. This summer, I joined housing advocates and local leaders at ECS’ 1066 Mission Street to celebrate the passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. Signed into law in July, this landmark bipartisan federal legislation is intended to increase housing supply, reduce barriers to development, and strengthen programs that create and preserve affordable homes. Locally, San Francisco voters will consider Proposition C, the Housing Trust Fund initiative, this November. If approved, the measure would increase the City’s annual investment in affordable housing, supporting both the production and preservation of affordable homes while helping promote long-term housing stability for people and families with the greatest need. We also marked an important milestone in Richardson Bay, where the final participant in the Temporary Housing Support Program moved into safe housing this summer . ECS was proud to partner with the Richardson Bay Regional Agency, Marin County, and the Marin Housing Authority on this innovative effort. Through water-based case management and coordinated housing navigation, the program supported people living on vessels in making transitions to stable homes. On August 1st, ECS assumed operations of the Branham Lane interim housing community in San Jose. This expansion builds on our growing presence in Santa Clara County , and enables us to bring ECS’ decades of experience in shelter, housing and supportive services to more people seeking safety and stability across the Bay Area. These milestones share a common thread: durable progress is possible when government, service providers, advocates, funders, and community members work together . I am deeply grateful to ECS staff, our Board of Directors, public partners, philanthropic supporters, and community members whose commitment makes this work possible each day. As we look ahead, ECS remains focused on building on this momentum by",
