Excellent prices, great service, and fun atmosphere. Great family establishment. My wife and I took our 2 year old there recently and had a great time. I was shocked we got out of there well under $100, not bad for a family of 3 (4 if you count the extra 80 lbs im carrying). Give them a try and you won't be let down!

Sam’s is incredible. The food is great, but more importantly we come for the staff. Shelli remembers our names, our orders, is an incredible human. She started as staff, and has became our friend. The best part of Novato is Sam’s!

Since Sam retired last November the new owners have removed simple items from the menu such as what comes with an order. For example, a French dip and anything else along that line now instead of coming with fries and a soup or salad only comes with one thing. Just one thing, so that's a terrible value. Of course as with everybody, prices have gone up, but to remove things from the menu and raise the prices creates a poor value even though the food is still delicious. If one orders any of the egg dishes and a $7.25 side of 4 pieces of bacon your breakfast is at $30. $30 for bacon eggs toast and potatoes. As a comedian once said, it's still an egg, which comes out of a chicken's behind. I had a bowl of the goulash soup, and while it is still delicious, they've changed from putting cut up chunks of beef into it, now my entire bowl of soup had less than a teaspoon of ground beef, so a poor value. Still, the soup and the homemade salad dressings are still delicious. All the food is still delicious, it's just a poor value now. I hope the owner considers this and does things like add the bacon, sausage or ham back into the egg breakfasts, and goes back to having the fries plus a soup, salad or slaw on the side if he wants to keep customers coming back. From what I heard from a waitress, they're losing customers left and right. We'd like Sam's place to stay open so we like the owner to do what it takes to get it back to thriving.

Sams has good food that is competitively priced. The restaurant is clean, with a mix of tables, booths and the counter. There is ample parking and a train that runs around the restaurant on a track positioned about 3' below the ceiling. Overall, a solid place to eat and I will be back.

We celebrated a birthday here with our group and had a great experience. Then have a really nice room for parties and the food was really good. Perfect place for group celebrations.
