According to my daughter, Active Cultures has hands down the best acai bowls in Marin—and I have to agree! This is such a staple for us. We especially love the Evolution Bowl, and their seasonal shakes are always a treat. If you’re looking for something more substantial, the Huevos Rancheros and the Grassroots Burger are absolute favorites. The location is awesome (perfectly situated next to the Nugget and Boca Pizzeria), and we love sitting out on the patio to enjoy the sun. Most importantly, the people behind Active Cultures are amazing and clearly very community-oriented. A true local gem!

Another internet gem. Found it via internet searching as I was passing through. Looking for vegan food. This place is super casual. Order at the counter. Get your number. Find a seat and with three heel clicks, your food is out lickity split. Today I tried the, Grassroots burger. No sauce to make it dairy free. It was really good. I'd pass on the chips next time. They're a little off and not made in house. I think they come out of a bag. You bus your own table. Expensive! $25 lentil burger with a few chips. I sat outside in front with with dog and watched all of the privileged old white women drama in the parking lot. Definitely Marin county! Easy quick place if your passing through.

Absolutely loved the food at Active Culture! They have so many vegetarian and vegan options, and everything tastes super fresh and flavorful. Their OG house sauce is honestly one of the best sauces I’ve ever tasted — it ties everything together perfectly. Definitely recommend trying their bowls and tacos, both were amazing. Can’t wait to come back!

I ordered delivery, a berry smoothie and a Greek chicken wrap. By the time the smoothie arrived, it had spilled, which, I don’t fault the restaurant for that. But the Greek CHICKEN wrap, I received as a veggie wrap with chicken on the side…what?! Is this how it is supposed to be prepared or the person making the wrap didn’t feel like remaking it when they forgot the chicken? When I order a chicken wrap, I’m not expecting to have chicken on the side. When you order a pepperoni pizza, they don’t serve a cheese pizza with pepperoni on the side to eat separately. For the amount of time and the amount of money spent, and the fact that my smoothie was already an item I didn’t receive, this was a very frustrating first time experience.

Absolutely love Active Culture in Novato! The food is incredibly fresh, healthy, and delicious. Everything tastes thoughtfully prepared with high-quality ingredients, and there are so many great options that leave you feeling good after your meal. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, the staff is friendly, and the food is consistently amazing. It’s the perfect spot when you want something wholesome without sacrificing flavor. And the OG Sauce is incredible. Highly recommend!
