I went in to this CVS Sunday morning, July 5th with a winning scratcher to cash in. I had just confirmed it was a winner on the machine at Lucky grocery, but the clerks were busy, so I brought it to CVS. After waiting in a short line, I handed the scratcher to the cashier, and tell her I want to cash it in. She goes to the lotto machine. She scans my scratcher. It’s beeps, then prints out the lotto receipt. She grabs that piece of paper, crumbles it up, throws it in the trash. Then scans my scratcher a second time, takes that paper, hands it to me and says “this was already cashed”. I told her it was absolutely not already cashed, and it was because she scanned it twice. I asked to see the paper she threw away from the first scan. She lied and said there was no paper. I asked why did she have to scan it twice, she responded by telling me she was going to call the cops on me for causing a disturbance, and to leave the store. Me asking her a question she had no answer for was “causing a disturbance”. Another CVS employee came up. Possibly the manager, I’m not sure. He looked at the lotto machine for a minute. I said I’m sure there’s some kind of transaction log that shows it was scanned twice. I also asked him to check the cameras because it would clearly show that she scanned it, threw that paper away, then scanned it again. But, he refused to do anything and just tells me to call the Lottery if I have a problem! Absolutely unbelievable! The CVS cashier was trying to steal my money, and the CVS manager did nothing about it. They should both be fired immediately for this criminal act. I’m sure a thorough investigation would show this wasn’t the first time they’ve done this. I contacted the Lottery law enforcement on the matter, and will be pursuing charges against those CVS employees and prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
