Check out our brochure and email us your interest! our mission Since 1983, the Friends of Mt. Tam have been volunteer ambassadors in support of Mt. Tamalpais State Park. We are the park’s official fundraising partner, working closely with State Park personnel to enrich its visitors’ experience through education, interpretation, volunteering, and stewardship. SPECIAL EVENTS Events offered throughout the year to share the many wonders the mountain has to offer. Some events, like the annual Mt Tam Science Quest, are free and open to the public, while others are exclusive to members. Join us to find out more information. FUNDRAISING Through selling and distributing materials we support the various conservation, education, and maintenance programs at Mt. Tam State Park. Help us fundraise at Special Events such as the Mountain Play and Sound Summit each year. GRAVITY CAR BARN MUSEUM Gravity cars once let people coast down the mountain after they took the train up. (Yes, they had a brakeman.) The small museum on East Peak has a replica gravity car that you can get into, a video to watch, and a lot of great pictures to take you on a trip back through time. VISITOR CENTER State Park volunteers help provide information to help you enjoy your trip. Stop by the visitor center to buy books, shirts, caps, water bottles, and more. You can also learn about the natural resources and view a diorama of local wildlife. TRAIL CREWS Friends of Mt Tam, along with the Marin Municipal Water District and OneTam, help schedule trail crews to maintain the many trails on the mountain. Sign up for our eNewsletter for updates or visit our Volunteer page for information on how to join. FMT SPONSORED HIKES Join an experienced FMT hiker on the many trails on Mt. Tamalpais.
