Had a not great experience here with the hotel and the staff. Right off the rip the lady at the front desk was argumentative and not helpful, and that did not change through the whole stay. It’s right next to a bus / train station which woke me up repeatedly at night. Several lights and outlets in the room did not work. I confirmed late check out our last day but then was locked out of our room with our stuff inside. Staff were less than helpful with the issue and blamed me for needing late check out like it was so ridiculous. Just a bad experience overall.

We had a really great experience with Richelle at the front desk! She went above and beyond to make our stay great. Location is next to a Safeway and shopping center with lots of food options and very near the Sonoma Racetrack where we are visiting. Rooms only got 4 stars because the A/C isn’t great, noisily kicked on every so often but did not keep the room cool.

The short: it’s not worth the cost. Would like to give it 3.5 stars but The long: we intended on staying at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Novato but unfortunately they didn’t have a room. They recommended this as an alternative. Lobby presents well and the front desk was friendly. The location is convenient and there are food and supermarket options very close by. As you complete check in they off-handedly mention there is a parking fee. We’re not in NYC or downtown San Fran and parking is scarce so this is a cheap move. There’s already pardon fees with hotels so just be up front with your pricing Once you get past the front desk, it’s clear that it feels older. The hallways, the elevator, and definitely the rooms. It’s sooo dark in the rooms. Every light has its own switch and each bulb has to be 25 watt max. Think fancy steakhouse dark. Popcorn ceilings, bathtub instead of walk in shower. The outlet by the bathroom didn’t work. Beds are comfortable, pillows so-so. We stayed in a king suite and there’s no table. It has a rolling desk top but only one chair so it’s awkward trying to eat in the room and not be on the bed. Tiny dorm style fridge and sink. Full cabinets but nothing in them. A simple update would justify the price. Intermediate size fridge, dinner ware, and a table would bring it to a similar value as the Resindence inn. Also they put us in room 218 and at 6am there was considerable noise from maybe an adjacent housekeeping room? It definitely was not from other guests. To me it sounded like metal rolling carts. We paid for the breakfast when booking online and this is actually a fantastic value. The breakfast was very good and quickly prepared. The bar also did not have any rum for a rum and Coke Overall I probably wouldn’t stay here again unless we were able to get a better rate

Traveling for work and being away from home is never easy, but the staff here always made it an exceptional experience. They treated me like family. I stayed there monthly and was so blown away by the warmth and kindness they greeted me with during every stay. Mark in particular was truly excellent - he always looked out for me and made sure my stay was comfortable. He treats all customers like VIPs and makes them feel exceptionally welcome. I always felt well taken care of when Mark was helping me. It's rare when staff feels like friends looking out for you, and Mark does just that. He's efficient, gets things done right, and easily handles any issues that arise. Big shoutout to Regin as well, who remembers so many customers (and their orders) and greets them with a huge smile! Having dinner at the bistro and unwinding with a friendly conversation with him was always a highlight of my day. You won't meet a nicer person than Regin. Michael, the manager, was always helpful and responsive to every request, and would go above and beyond sending emails to check in with my experience. I always really appreciated that! This place is the "Cheers" of hotels. My gratitude to the whole staff at Courtyard Novato for making my stays so warm and lovely.

Staff was universally very kindly to us. Room was in great condition. Loved the balcony and 4th floor views of the hills. Soaking in the bathtub with Marin water is so much softer than the super hard water in San Jose where we live. Avocado Toast and Egg Sandwich breakfast was delicious! Everything was good. My wife and I are very likely to come back again. You're only a 90 minute drive from home, but feels like worlds away from Silicon Valley.
