- Never have I felt compelled to write a negative review. However, the service that I received from this branch was beyond lackluster. I recently opened a checking account with Phil Rap and was charged a slew of service fees despite my inability to make deposits through technology in order to avoid these charges. According to Phil, who happens to also be the manager, customers are required to physically come into the branch to make deposits in order to avoid the service fees. This is extremely inconvenient, particularly given that I had been attracted to this Bank because of the promised convenience of doing business. Their lack of certain technologies for depositing funds should not result in automatic service fees. Although the fees were nominal, Phil was incapable of resolving the issue in a satisfactory manner. I would encourage anyone who is considering opening an account at this branch to read the fine print. I believe that I have been misled and that my time and money have been wasted. My hope is that Bank of the West will invest in the much-needed training of their representatives to help them become reliable sources of information while serving their clients.
