Julian Carter · Pacheco Valley Preserve

text
Take Chicken Shack Fire Road (3.2 miles) for a steep uphill climb to Big Rock Ridge. Travel through classic oak woodlands that open to views of Mount Burdell and Mount Tam. Rugged quarter-mile Pacheco Creek Trail leads to a lovely seasonal waterfall. The preserve is adjacent to Loma Verde Preserve, Ignacio Valley Preserve, and Marinwood open space lands that comprise 3000 contiguous open space acres. Trailheads at lower elevations connect through Marinwood via the Pacheco Multiuse Pathway. Dogs are welcome. Dogs must be leashed on trail, and under voice command on fire roads, with leash readily available.
