Daniel Edblom · WM - Redwood Landfill

text
Redwood Landfill has been a convenient place for homeowners to take “more than a trash can sized load” for years. Today I went with my Suburban loaded with large tree branches and misc wood from projects around the house. Ten plus large trucks waiting to go in were ahead of me with no option for the “public access” lane they used to have. Apparently ALL vehicles must now be weighed. I had to wait in line for half an hour just to get in as Redwood Landfill has changed to a new system. Slow is an understatement only made worse by no new signage at the landfill or info on the website explaining changes. Website still has 2016 info while landfill signs still direct the public to lane 3. The new (not improved) system isn’t explained until the vehicle is on the scale where you are informed that all this waiting will also cost residents more money as fees have gone up. Again no info posted anywhere about this. Leaving the DUMP required waiting in line again to be weighed and to pay. A long long line of big trash haulers as the landfill employees spend more time typing paperwork using one finger at a time. Finally paid for the “service” provided, $102.87. I figure my load cost me 28.5 cents a pound and over an hour of waiting in line for using Redwood Landfill. Bureaucratic inefficiency at its finest as I saw at least 8 folks trying to sort out this new system. I won’t be back.
