I have been a part of Sensei Jordan's dojo since I first brought my son, almost 10 years ago, to train with his friends. Two years later, on a Father's Day special, I joined myself and haven't looked back.
Working with Sensei Jordan Penman, and the entire dojo family, has kept me focused on health and training in the face of job demands and other life pressures. I am a much healthier, happier, stronger, more flexible, more balanced and confident person going into my later years than I would have been without the Kenpo system, training program and series of goals that Sensei Jordan has created. Fighting is the core of Kenpo, but the value comes from everything required to become a fighter.
And now -- after 10 years: on to Brown belt...
North Bay Kenpo has been amazing for my family! I was on the hunt for a martial arts studio that could teach me practical self defense and at North Bay Kenpo I get that and soooooo much more! Being a woman whom has been in some shady situations (not by choice), I have wanted to learn self defense for a long time. However, I have hesitated to do so due to being concerned that I might hurt myself by needing to wrestle with others or by being thrown around. I was also concerned about being in a too overly competitive "agro" setting. At North Bay Kenpo, everyone is so kind and respectful. People are humble and helpful. Sensei Jordan has truly created a unique environment and his dojo feels like a genuine community! The martial arts Sensei Jordan teaches is practical, highly effective, can be quickly applied, and is achievable for people in all walks of life, fitness levels, and goals. He and his team truly meet you were your at. My husband, 5 year old son, and I LOVE going to the dojo! It's are favorite part of our day! Thank you Sensei Jordan for sharing your art and passion! It has been such an honor to learn from you!
The greatest dojo ever for us. It feels like a family. We have been there with our kids for almost 15 years. This school has helped our kids tremendously throughout their lives and education. Highly recommended, great senseis.
Amazing sensei. Jordan has created something that has been such a huge influence on our lives.
My kid has been working with this dojo for about 18 months. She’s gained so much confidence and sense of belonging. The entire group works with students of all ages, abilities and skills. During the summer they have Dojo Summer Camp which she LOVES.
Starting my training here more than three years ago has been a life-changer for me. I'm stronger, my balance is better, and my reflexes have improved. All my Senseis work with me where I'm at. A karate lesson is my go to when I'm having a bad day!

"excerpt":" North Bay Kenpo - North Bay Kenpo Skip to content North Bay Kenpo Instructors Master Jordan Penman Sensei Anthony Sensei Brandon Classes Pee-Wee Kids Teens Adults Contact us Events North Bay Kenpo Instructors Master Jordan Penman Sensei Anthony Sensei Brandon Classes Pee-Wee Kids Teens Adults Contact us Events North Bay Kenpo Martial Arts is about more than just self-defense. At North Bay Kenpo, we help our students improve their mind, body, and spirit. Through each stage of development we focus on specific skills for our students. For our youngest students, we teach focus, motor coordination, and listening skills. For children, we focus discipline, confidence, and respect. Our teens learn goal-setting and achievement, as well as building physical and mental strength. Adults improve stamina, strength, and flexibility while relieving stress. We offer Classes for: PeeWees This class focuses on foundational basics. We teach stance and movement through a curriculum that emphasizes listening skills, self-control, and having fun! Kids In the kids program we focus on having fun, while developing a strong work ethic. We continue to develop a strong foundation of stance and movement while shifting the curriculum towards skill building activities and drills that strengthen and condition, while we learn to practice on a partner safely. Teens Providing a safe haven for teenage development – The teens program is all about positive social interaction. We learn practical skills and techniques that are focused on function and application. Respect and safety or emphasized, while learning to work hard together. Adults The adults program is the whole package! We learn practical self-defense, while we safely exercise and conditioner ourselves to be stronger physically, mentally, and spiritually. All of this in an environment that is friendly, welcoming, and encouraging! Instructors Master Jordan Penman Chief Instructor & Owner Master Penman, or Sensei Jordan to his students, has dedicated the past 25 years of his life to the Martial Arts and opened the San Rafael Dojo in 2000. He incorporates the “why” and the “how” in a way that helps students achieve their full potential. Sensei Jordan is a sixth-degree black belt who works with students of all ages. He oversees and mentors our team of instructors. Sensei Brandon Assistant Instructor Sensei Brandon is a third degree black belt whom has been training in Shaolin Kenpo for 25 years. He works with kids, teens and adults to instill the principles of Kenpo. Brandon has studied a variety of other martial arts and combines the practical, and tactical essence into his style of teaching the formal aspects of martial arts. Sensei Anthony Assistant Instructor Sensei Anthony, a second degree black belt, has trained for seventeen years in Shaolin Kenpo and three-years of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu that leaned heavily towards the practical use of martial arts.
