1. Protocol
Each object has a stable identity and a public page. A house, parcel, person, profile, business, listing, permit, source call and review are separate objects.
Relationships connect those objects. A relationship states its subject, predicate and object. Views reuse the same records through links; they do not create new copies of the facts.
Rules
- Store a fact on the object it describes. An associated parcel's jurisdiction does not change a house's city.
- Resolve identity using stable identifiers and evidence. Matching names alone never establish that two records describe the same thing.
- Keep source records distinct until identity is established; record counts are not automatically counts of unique people or properties.
- Retain provenance, observation time and the exact supporting quotation or structured field for each new claim.
- Keep conflicting claims and their sources. A later assertion may supersede an earlier one without erasing its evidence.
- Use null for unknown values. Reserve zero for a measured zero. Missing data, blocked access and exhausted budgets are different states.
- A ranking, repeated claim, model confidence or source popularity can affect research priority; it cannot verify a fact.
- Enumerate collections, expose page boundaries, and make every resolved object reachable through its canonical link.
Hierarchy and relationships
upward: Follow an object's declared parent or containing collection. The predicate distinguishes located_in, part_of and member_of.
downward: Follow the inverse parent relation to children; child counts and pagination belong to that relation.
sideways: Follow typed associations such as associated_parcel, profile_of, listing_of, review_of or professional_presence_in. Association alone implies no other fact.
geography: A neighborhood can belong to a city and a city to a county when that relationship is recorded. A mailing city, legal jurisdiction, census hierarchy and collection membership are different relationships.
traversal: Track visited IDs, retain cycles as relationships, and stop recursive expansion at the disclosed page/depth limit. A traversal limit is not a claim of completeness.
House → Mill Valley → Marin County. Its parcel is a separate associated object.
Evidence and certainty
Each claim has three independent fields:
- origin: supplied, extracted, imported, derived
- verification: unverified, verified, disputed, retracted
- derivation: asserted, inferred
Syndicated copies and repeated extractions of one source do not count as independent confirmation.
An inferred claim names its rule and input evidence. It is not promoted to verified by a score or by being copied into an article.
Verification names an independent source, the checked claim, method and time. A source's existence proves provenance, not the truth of every extracted field.
Where these fields are absent, verification remains unknown. Existing facts are source assertions, not implicitly verified claims.
How to enrich
More useful, source-supported facts and resolved relationships per unit of cost; fewer duplicate records, missing sources and unresolved identities.
- Read the canonical object, its relationships and existing source observations before fetching again.
- Choose an unanswered question, stale source, missing relationship or unresolved identity; record why it is worth investigating.
- Use a deterministic source adapter first. Escalate to a model only for unresolved extraction or reasoning; use a paid source only within an explicit configured budget.
- Record the source response or capture, timestamp and hash where available. Keep discovered links, failures and the remaining frontier.
- Extract candidate claims with exact evidence locations; preserve contradictions and leave unsupported values unknown.
- Validate identifiers, types, relationship direction, evidence and retry identity before committing. Reuse existing objects and append new evidence.
- Read back persisted records and public links. Record new supported claims, duplicates, failures, time and actual cost separately.
- Continue while eligible work remains. Revisit when source content changes or freshness expires. Errors never count as saturation.
Missing evidence, freshness, expected information gain and owner priorities determine investigation order. Numerical weights remain inactive until calibrated from observed outcomes.
An executor must identify its effective policy version, enabled adapters, rate and retry limits, budget, work lease and stop condition. Publishing this protocol does not start an executor.
