- This is a wonderful, charming museum showcasing local art. The museum is nestled in a serene location and its exterior beauty matches the landscape. You’ll find ample, free parking. There is a suggested donation at the door. I went on a Friday morning and viewed the Altered Books Exhibit. The museum has a pleasant layout with about three main rooms, which are not very large. However, there is ample art to enjoy. I was pleasantly surprised by the open studios that allow guests to meet and talk to the resident artists, located on the first and second floors. I believe there are additional studios next to the museum that you can visit. Each artist has work on display and there are various prints available for sale outside their door. I felt like these studios were bonus exhibits! Some of the artists offer various classes and even one-on-one training. The second floor also houses a large exhibition room. During my visit, there was a large art mural painted by homeless youth of Marin, which was wonderful to see. Before you leave, be sure to check out their lovely gift shop. It has a little bit of everything and you may even find a gem in their clearance section. Overall, this is a great local museum and I will definitely return to support community arts.
