- Our family has been coming to Ming Yen for eleven years now, and our son is a very sensory oriented person who finds new food tastes and textures challenging to try. Not here, though. He'll even eat the spicy stuff, here! We frequent this place for to-go orders, not because in-house dining isn't pleasant, but because it's the restaurant whose food stays perfect until long after you get it home. We do dine in-house when we're feeling like being "out" for dinner, and the service is absolutely wonderful. We have, however, seen some INCREDIBLY impatient, entitled and sometimes just racist customers come in here though. This place, however great it's been all eleven years for us and a good number of other locals, really seems to be a magnet for customers that like abusing staff or eating five to six plates of food and then say it's terrible and demand the money back. The staff and owners always handle it with grace, but unfortunately, when they don't give someone who ate every bite a full refund, while still offering to make it as right as you can for a con artist, that person will usually take to yelp to complain. Or Google. I've watched this play out more than a handful of times, and it really blows my mind just how poorly behaved people can be. We regularly order the Singapore rice Noodle, the dry green beans, any one of their appetizers at random, and either the won ton or the hot and sour soup. It's all fantastic and I don't recall ever loving any of the similar restaurants I frequented in Portland more. I'd recommend this place for anyone looking for a reliably fresh and delicious meal. They're more than generous and the quality of the food is outstanding. In our home, it's a comfort food.
