OK - Interesting.  We need to discuss a bit further and talk through specific changes / mods we'd make to increase time on site / commitment.

Tom & Maureen:
Sent Maureen some messages on this (was reviewing the performance of posts).
Will include screenshots of the performance below ~ there is high drop off in some events, economy of space can be optimized.
I don't see the need for such generous space allocation at the top for the HL & Author, I think it's fair to assume that the higher in the post a hook point can be caused, the higher a chance of a reader committing to a story, once a reader commits then we can move them through to the end.
>I believe that commitment, is largely binary/non-binary, people who can be made to not drop off, commit, the act of commitment will have a disproportionate effect on the post performance.
For example: Eulogies has a 50% drop-off in the first 1 minute, simultaneously, there's been a huge day over day enhancement in the visual component of eulogies. Assuming that visuals are going to be under control outgoing (Or, more realistically, the occurrence rate of failure events happening at the image level at a reduced frequency) - Then there are dozens & dozens of other considerations downstream from that which come into play once we have relatively good HL & image architecture.
Just to move onto two would be the space efficiency & the hook point being moved up the page. -- If we assume binary / non-binary commitment / drop off then a 25% reduction to drop off is a 25% increase to completion, so, the qualitative considerations which the graph is looking for in its judgement of posts is sizably more favorable when there is a lower drop off & higher completion (& by extension a higher time on article) -- this in tandem with post performance & shareability which have already been made factors which are being quantified are some of the factors in the consideration of these posts.
Example: Say the HL was reduced substantively, the general top portion was reduced substantively, and instead of essentially 3 screens of text followed by a piece of media, what if that emotive piece of media was very high on the article ~ the higher it is the higher the people who aren't committing do see it.
I suppose, since the 3 of us are all I believe real time addicts, the consideration should be asked regularly, why are people being acted upon at the rate at which they are relative to the position they have been put in.
For ex: Why is a story more popular than another. It's colors & HL's, but, fundamentally, there is a juxtaposition which exists between entry dynamics & progression dynamics.
Entry is about lack of symmetry, while as progression is about symmetry. People click on what is not comfortable (per se) while as they progress through what is.
Extremely pleased w/ the marked improvements I saw today, really impressive. & a headline of Maureen's was a big performer. Really great.
